Gosh! It’s really really hard.. I don’t know what will my 12 choices on Form A be.. Should I go to a JC or a Poly? Which kind of education can bring out the best in me? What am I really interested in? Oh earthlings. I’m lost. Have anyone already submitted your 12 choices? If you already did, I hope that you would get into your 1st choice! Please share your selection of choices with me too? Well, I can’t ask my friends how they choose because most of them are Pro-JC. I need someone who is able to weight the pros and cons of both type of education, to enlighten me on my next step.
But, after doing so many posts on the various pros and cons about the two education, I think what’s important is myself. What do I want to do and what do I want to be. This two questions will affect my next route..
I only have one day to think about the 12 choices..
JC Pros
1.Uniformed
2.Classroom setting you have been used to for 10years
3.Easy to go into University(45%+)
4.You are deemed as smarter and more hardworking and you can be proud to say you come from JC during family reunions and etc….(no offense to poly people)
JC Cons
1.A level cert is less marketable than Diploma Cert and it will be very hard to find a job if you fail to go to a Uni course.
2.You have 2years before Alvls, means u have to catch up on subjects you are weak at from the very start.
3.Easy to retain in year1 of JC.
4.You will take around the same number of subject as in secondary school but on an advanced level.
Poly Pros
1.Home clothing
2.Specializes in your field of expertise.(science, business, design, etc…)
3.Long breaks after major semesters.
4.Marketable, although you will need some working experience to get nice jobs.
Poly Cons
1.Screw one semester and you can say byebye to Uni, and only the tops in each course can go Uni which is around 10%?
2.You might not get used to hearing boring lectures day after day.
3.No textbooks, you will get notes but you have to copy notes still.
4.Some jobs may hire people from Uni with degrees instead of you as it might also be a pre-requisite to have a degree in some jobs.
However, you have to work the same effort in Poly as in JC.
Poly is not as slack as you think.
Uniformed isn’t a pro imo.
Pass rate is above 88%, nothing close to 45%+.
I 100% agree with your last two sentences, unless one intends to end his/her education at diploma lvl.
heyyy!!!!! ah goh goh mind telling me your 12 choices? cos my score kinda resembles yours and i wanna see if i made the right choices ( :
